It’s taken me a while but it’s finally done. It’s now time for my first highlight post and what better way to start it than with Opeth’s live DVD The Roundhouse Tapes. The DVD recorded live at The Roundhouse venue in London on November 9th, 2006, compromises of nine of Opeth’s best songs spanning over all the their albums. except for Deliverance which they played songs from. From Orchid to Ghost Reveries (which was their latest at the time), they played at least one song from each album with the exception of Blackwater Park (5th album) and My Arms, Your Hearse (3rd album) which they played two tracks from each of those records. The reason The Roundhouse was picked as the setting for their live DVD is that, quoting the great Mikael Akerfeldt, ”The Roundhouse concert will always be a very memorable gig for us for many reasons, but most importantly it caught the band at the peak of the Ghost Reveries tour.”
What’s up everyone, it’s been quite a long fucking time since I lasted posted on here and decided that I should come out of my dark cave where I was holed up in for the past month. As you remember I put this blog on hiatus for reasons of becoming uberly inspired and decided to dedicate all my time into making film and pursuing my dream. That has happened more or less with Digital and I making only 2 films (one being a complete flop) as well as making 1 small special effects skit, a video for a project Digital had to do, and Project Awesomeness 15. I feel the ambition and inspiration to make film is gone, but then again the root of this problem might be the locations.
So as everyone has read on Digital’s blog Euphoric Field, we have effectively gone on hiatus. My blog will follow suit as well. I know I’m a little late on giving everyone the notice, but everyone who reads my blog reads Digital’s as well, but most likely will read his before mine. I plan to post about updates on our progression of making films and our journey to the top. As everyone knows we’ve already made our first short film (seen here) under the Digital Funeral Production name and despite it being extremely short I think it is great. Our second project hasn’t been decided yet but hopefully we’ll think of something either today or in the next couple of days, either way something will be put out soon. I would like to film one of my ideas but like I said it all depends on what we agree upon. I would like to give the collection of short films we make an anthological name for archival purposes and to to get our name out there we could just copy these short films on a DVD under the given name we decide to choose and send it to potential sponsers. I’m really excited about all this and looking forward to filming more projects. I know I had many things going on like my whole Eras Marathon, Mangafest ‘09, and other generally random things I planned to do for my blog, but as of right now all of those are being put on hold until further notice. I just want to really devote all of my time to doing what I love and what I want to do as a career. So like I said I will be giving everyone plenty of updates on our status with making films and hope everyone enjoys. Peace Out Motherfuckers!
The Cowboy Bebop rewatch was going to be my next post, but thanks to my inability to stay up late I will not be able to give that to those who read this blog. This post will pretty much be about me discussing random shit that’s been going on for the past week. Also please excuse my shitty writing abilities when reading the whole story of trying to rewatch Cowboy Bebop because I just suck at telling stories of this nature.
Ever since Digitalboy showed me the Overman King Gainer opening theme I haven’t been able to get the fucking song out of my head ever since. Even though the video and song are awesome this is just ridiculous how I can’t the song out of my head. Someone please shoot me now!
So today is my birthday everyone! Happy Birthday to me. I turn 21 today so everyone most likely gets the idea of what I’m going to be doing tonight. I feel kind of excited, since it is my birthday and all, but I feel like I’ve taken the next step in my life. I feel it’s finally come time to act upon all the dreams and aspirations that I’ve wanted to accomplish for so long. I have many dreams and aspirations but the one that is most important to me is to become a director. I’m really so close to accomplishing it and I don’t want it to become just another hobby. I want to make this my career, you know something that will pay the bills. I have many of ideas floating around in my noggin and have two that I’m writing right now and two that I just currently started writing. I have other aspirations like to become a musician, animator, professional artist, and when the time comes I will probably want to write a novel. So pretty much I want to do it all in the entertainment industry. Though becoming a director thwarts all of those. I already know that having a profession like this will come with hard times, but I’m willing to endure it no matter what, as long as the dream is fulfilled.
